As the record reveals, Flyers are not trending in the right direction. Bill...beyond Covid-related absences/lack of practice, what do you feel is the most glaring problem with this team, as assembled? When I watch them, I just don’t see a cohesive group. Is it coaching, player personnel?

If the team does not upgrade the D and start playing better at defending in their own end this will not end well. Despite the shot totals the team was generally very off with so many errant passes and flubbing some great scoring chances. What is with Kevin Hayes, he is no way near the player he was to start the year and is a big area of concern. It is also alarming the Gost has been the best dman the past two games. Hoping for a quick turnaround tuedsay night. Farabee, Jake and Gost played well.

One phrase that AV mentioned quite a few times in a 3 1/2 minute presser yesterday was "missed assignments"

Might be time to start talking about Hart having a down year so far and at almost -6 GSAA (Elliot is +3 GSAA) it's been a killer. It's not all him, but he's not erasing team defense mistakes like he was last season. Hopefully he can find his game soon. .

He is having a down year, but it has also been demonstrably proven that the team plays much worse in front of him and he has been hung out to dry like summer linens.

Don't hawk his book here in Bills column. The same Bill he rips on frequently on that other site.

Flyers played well in the 1st and beat the Caps to the puck and won a lot of puck battles along the wall, but the Caps got their skating legs in the 2nd and 3rd. How may odd man chances did the Flyers have and over passed the puck and came away with nothing? Same thing on the PP. The Fly Boys better right this ship vs the Sabres because it's a tough schedule after that. We can't survive a long losing streak with this format.

The Flyers have not played nearly as good in front of Hart this year compared to last year, its not even close!

Not looking good lately however:

1-1 vs Caps

2-0 vs NYI

3-2 vs Pittsburgh

Boston lets not go there

I agree changes need to be made but they can't be dropping games like Buffalo tomorrow.

If you look past the obvious issues of Niskanen/Hart there is something going on. You can see it on the lack of attention to detail in coverage of assignments and fundamental execution. I think there is a tune out going on in combination with certain players who are probably not comfortable playing in the current environment...

Does anyone else remember how Flyers teams tend to play before coaches get fired in season? I dont think its AV, I think the assistants have lost the room....

Action bias event expected soon... it really stinks after the hopes getting up last year...

I think they need better conditioning baby, and a sniper who can score.

Fletcher is not tied to any of the current Flyers players, while Fletcher is heavily tied to AV as their head coach. This means if changes are made, its going to be the players!

Ugh another loss to a blindganger like Buffalo will make this board sore. Even the blind Homer's will demand a firesale and quality players from abroad

Need a D-Man. A GOOD one.

Need a sniper. A RELIABLE one.

I wonder why these weren't addressed in the off-season?

We have plenty of tradeable assets, had enough cap space.
I don't get it.

Speaking of snipers.

Do you all think Stamkos > Bure? Or did he just play on better teams?

I remember Bure being fast as heck. Not sure of his shot. He put up incredible numbers so it's close.

My guess would be too many unknowns; the dwindling cap and expansion draft.
